99 on the 99

marker, Bristol paper / 26” x 40”

99 on the 99 is based on the diverse passengers of the 99 B-Line, one of North America’s busiest bus routes. In spring 2015, eligible voters could vote in the Metro-Vancouver Transportation and Transit Referendum. The Mayors’ Plan included extending the Millennium SkyTrain Line to address the over-capacity Broadway bus corridor from Commercial to Arbutus. Shortly after the Mayor’s Council kicked off their YES campaign, I rode the 99 B-Line between Commercial and Arbutus {six times!}, taking note of 99 passengers. Later, I used my notes to make 99 portraits of 99 B-Line passengers.
